Male Cardinal on Dogwood
The vivid red color of the male cardinal comes from carotenoid pigments found in red fruits. Eating scarlet-hued berries helps male cardinals form brighter red feathers. The flashy color boosts the bird’s ability to attract a mate and his nesting territory.
This cardinal wall sculpture is crafted using pulverized glass fused onto solid copper for a sleek and saturated final texture, and shows off the delicate form and rich, vibrant red coloring of the male cardinal.
