About the Eggs
Lisa Oakley creates fifty signed and dated glass eggs for our Food Bank Fundraiser every year. She does not offer them for sale, so the only way to get one is by buying raffle tickets and bidding in the auction.
Lisa will sculpt the eggs throughout March. Typically, the eggs range in size from 4 to 6 ½ inches tall. All fifty eggs will be displayed in the gallery and online by March 31.
About the Artist
Lisa Oakley is the second generation owner of Cedar Creek Gallery and has been blowing glass since 1994. She created her first handblown glass egg for an egg hunt at Penland School of Craft in 1995.
She creates glass eggs every year for our fundraiser because she feels that as a business, giving back to the community creates a sense of connection, cooperation, and trust that helps all of us.
As a person, Lisa thinks about food all the time. She feels incredibly lucky to have healthy food in the pantry for her family. Lisa knows that many households in North Carolina deal with food insecurity on a regular basis, and feels that it is important to reach out to the community and do what we can to help others who have limited access to healthy and affordable foods.
Although Lisa creates the eggs, she credits the success of this fundraiser to the behind-the-scenes work of the entire Cedar Creek staff and the generosity of the wonderful customers and friends of the gallery.
She would also like to thank Cedar Creek Gallery studio artist glassblowers Lizzie Morantz, Mike Pope, and Harrison Harper, who assisted her in creating this year's eggs.
The Fine Print
Winners will be notified by phone or email. Winners may pick their eggs up in the gallery or arrange to have them shipped at the winner's expense. Two egg maximum per winner.
