Artist Statement
I don’t tend to distinguish much between people and animals. Having observed animals all my life, I watched them play, and I also believe they get satisfaction and maybe pleasure from a job well done. Therefore you can read the animals as people.
My fascination with circuses goes back to my childhood, the excitement, the circus tent, the stripes, the stars, the costumes, and the colors. The flurry of action from the acrobats and the animals. The overall excitement and anticipation
As an adult, I abhor the treatment and conditions the animals were kept in and certainly don’t condone using wild animals in circuses. It hurts my heart to see an animal pace or weave. The iconography remains and is part of my vocabulary in expressing my art.

*Teapots that are sold must remain on display in the gallery as part of the exhibit until the show closes on September 10, 2020.  After the show closes, teapots will be carefully packed and shipped by September 26 or available for pick-up at the gallery.
