I combine handbuilding and wheel‑throwing techniques with painterly glaze and underglaze decoration.

About the Artist
I was born in a small farming village in southern Taiwan. I am very fortunate to have come from a family that encouraged my artistic endeavors. My greatest childhood dream was to become a bohemian painter working on the streets of Paris. It is to my greatest surprise that I now find myself to be a studio potter living in New England. To this I owe a great deal to my RISD education. While it discouraged any of my further fantasies of becoming a painter, it fortunately introduced me to the wonderful world of pottery.

Artist Statement
What is constantly on my mind in my creative process is balance. Balance between aesthetics and functionality. Balance between Asian sensibilities and Western art school training. I want my work to be innovative yet approachable, playful yet stimulating.
Since I was not classically trained as a ceramicist, the innocence of traditional doctrines and rules actually provides me with greater freedom in my exploration of pottery making. Plenty of mistakes have been made in this particular endeavor. Nevertheless, the rare successes from those mistakes keep me constantly engaged.

*Teapots that are purchased will remain on display in the gallery for the duration of the exhibition, through September 14, 2026.
After the show closes, teapots will be carefully packed and shipped by September 28, or they may be picked up at the gallery.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0570/8146/2941/files/142814_1_50542bf2-66a6-4ec2-aada-ebd2101f47a1.jpg?v=1776452647
