About the Teapot
I am surrounded by piles of laundry and power lines, inspired by the joy of simple sunshine peeking through it all and rejuvenated by quiet nights alone in the studio.
Artist Statement
Fascinated by the potential of place to define and connect us, I draw subtle narratives on functional work to elicit memories of times past. I create a story to hold in your hand forever.
About Nicole
Nicole took an unconventional path to become a full-time studio potter. After pursuing a career in civil engineering, she left to follow her passion and earned her MFA in ceramics from the Rhode Island School of Design. Nicole etches each image into porcelain clay with a knife and inlays a bluish/black underglaze. The high temperature of the kiln combined with a clear glaze overlay slightly blurs the drawing, much like a faded memory. She often references imagery from her past as a way to establish a personal connection.
*Teapots that are sold must remain on display in the gallery as part of the exhibit until the show closes on September 10, 2020. After the show closes, teapots will be carefully packed and shipped by September 26 or available for pick-up at the gallery.

Cedar Creek Gallery's National Teapot Show XII is an invitational event featuring teapots crafted by artists from across North America. More than 200 hand-crafted teapots created using a broad range of materials - including pottery, glass, wood, fiber, and mixed media.
Teapots in the show come in all shapes and sizes! Some are functional - just right for your daily cup of tea, while others are created as sculptural teapots.
Every teapot in the show is available for purchase.
