About the Teapot
This Green Oval Teapot combines thrown, altered, and hand-built sections. These sections are made separately on the wheel and then assembled. I enjoy altering the thrown form and working in this manner because it allows me to make pots of differing forms and shapes.
The majolica decoration is a contemporary approach to the majolica of the Italian Renaissance. The majolica glaze is very smooth and white, which makes a good surface for decorating. The colors are applied with a brush to the glazed majolica surface to create active patterns and decorations.
I love to make pots, and I love to decorate. I combine these two loves in my work.
Posey is continually exploring the relationship between surface decoration and form. The surface treatment of her work explores the use of line and pattern to create vibrancy. She employs floral motifs as patterns rather than actual representative images and incorporates gold decals to contrast the painterly surfaces.
*Teapots that are sold must remain on display in the gallery as part of the exhibit until the show closes on September 10, 2023. After the show closes, teapots will be carefully packed and shipped by September 26 or available for pick-up at the gallery.
