About the Teapot Set
Inspired by Japanese Kyusu-ware, this teapot features a side handle. The Ginkgo leaves were created using green/gold slip over a white slip background.

Artist Statement
Inspired by the Asian ceramic culture of his native region and the NC pottery tradition of his adopted home, Wei's works strike a balance between artistry and functionality. He firmly believes that each aspect of a pot - shape and form, decoration, glaze, and function - serves a purpose and contributes equally to the piece as a whole, no more and no less.

About Wei
Wei Sun discovered NC ceramics on a pottery tour to Seagrove in 2010. Soon after, he started taking foundation classes at local art centers in Raleigh and continued his ceramic study with established potters. In 2019 Wei completed a 9-month apprenticeship with Marsha Owen Pottery and became a studio potter working at his home studio in Raleigh. Wei teaches ceramics at Raleigh Pullen Art Center and NCSU Craft Center.

*Teapots that are sold must remain on display in the gallery as part of the exhibit until the show closes on September 10, 2020.  After the show closes, teapots will be carefully packed and shipped by September 26 or available for pick-up at the gallery.
