Lookdown Fish

$145.00

This Lookdown Fish is a ceramic sculpture with a striking presence. Measuring about 7.75" long, 6.75" high, and 2" deep, it captures the species’ distinctive flattened profile and the slight downward angle of its gaze.

Made by Alan and Rosemary Bennett, the piece is fired in a wood kiln, where ash, heat, and flame interact directly with the surface. This process creates natural variations—subtle shifts in color, areas of gentle sheen, and small deposits of melted ash—that give each sculpture its own individual character. The finish reflects the specific conditions of the firing rather than a controlled glaze formula.
Suitable for display indoors or outdoors, this sculpture brings a sense of movement and light to any space.

About Alan & Rosemary Bennett

Alan and Rosemary Bennett draw strong inspiration from their experiences in and around the water. Their creative process begins with a series of sketches, which are then transformed into primary forms using stoneware, clay, or porcelain. These forms are hollowed out, and detailed features like porcelain teeth and eyes are added. Afterward, the pieces are bisque fired, then glazed through dipping, spraying, and brushing techniques. Finally, the works are fired a second time, using methods such as Raku, reduction firing, wood firing, and other specialized techniques.
