Happy Raku Fish - Large

$61.00

Ever since the first happy raku fish was literally squeezed from the artist’s hands and flopped to life on a potters wheel, these fish have made people laugh. That is their sole purpose. They are at their best when causing folks to break out in smiles, giggles and the occasional surprised, shrieking laugh.
These one of a kind fish look great hanging alone or together in a school.

About Happy Raku Fish

Sharon Murphy Harrison began creating Happy Raku Fish in 1986, and was joined by Nina Fernstrom-Duong a few years later.

Each fish is made individually by forming a small vase on the wheel and then pinching a funny mouth into place. Later, when the piece can be handled, eyes and fins are added. A large school of fish is fired in a bisque kiln so that glaze may be applied.

Next, a raku firing, which is traditionally Japanese, takes place. Because of the opportunity for variation in Raku pottery, each personally signed ceramic fish ornament is unique.
