About the Teapot
The inspiration for my teapots comes from my fascination with mixed media. The challenge has been how to apply all the skills I’ve learned over the 50 years I’ve been a potter to these pieces. My skills include lamp working, soldering, stained glass, and of course my main interest, clay. These teapots are the result.

About the Artist
Julie Olson has been working with clay since 1976 and established White Oak Pottery in 1980 while living in the township of White Oak. The business was relocated to Cary in 1989 and then again in March 2002 to Durham, where she now resides.
As a full-time studio potter and artist, she produces Raku, salt-fired functional ware, and white stoneware pieces fired in an electric kiln. She has been exploring metalsmithing, papermaking, woodworking, and stained-glass techniques to move into mixed media. Spiritual and ritual themes heavily influence her work.

*Teapots that are purchased will remain on display in the gallery for the duration of the exhibition, through September 14, 2026.
After the show closes, teapots will be carefully packed and shipped by September 28, or they may be picked up at the gallery.
