About the Teapot
Treepot is part of my Where Moss Grows series that evokes a living forest through ceramic sculptures. Each piece is a hand-built, intricately textured tree form that, on a closer look, reveals a mini ecosystem. It draws inspiration from the rhythms of growth in forest spaces. Moss spreads slowly over surfaces, mushrooms emerge from nooks and crannies, and a snail makes its way across flowing bark.
By focusing on these small, often overlooked elements, this teapot reflects an ecosystem that unfolds at a slower pace. This sense of slowness is echoed in the act of brewing tea itself, where waiting becomes a part of the ritual and attention shifts toward time, heat, and transformation. The teapot becomes a landscape, where surface and structure are shaped by accumulation rather than urgency.
The work invites close attention to texture and detail, encouraging a moment of pause and a deeper awareness of the subtle, ongoing life within natural environments.

About the Artist
Anna Schroeder is a ceramic sculptor who creates detailed, lifelike works inspired by the natural world. Her sculptures explore form and texture through tree structures, woodland animals, and layered surfaces that echo bark, moss, and organic growth.
Her work captures small moments within forest life, inviting a close look and discovery. Many pieces include hidden elements, such as animals tucked into tree hollows or subtle details that reveal themselves over time, encouraging interaction and curiosity.
Anna teaches sculpture classes and works in her studio at Claymakers in Durham, NC. Her work has been recognized through grants and exhibitions, and she continues to explore how sculpture can deepen attention to the natural world.

*Teapots that are purchased will remain on display in the gallery for the duration of the exhibition, through September 14, 2026.
