About the Teapot
As someone who drinks tea daily, I’m drawn to the way a pot shapes the experience. I love small teapots for their intimacy and the personal pause they offer in the day. This teapot was wheel‑thrown, glazed with a blue ash glaze, and brushed with slips. Its handle is handmade from smoked reed. I hope this piece brings joy and meaning to the quiet exchange between you, the tea, and the vessel.
About the Artist
Caroline was born in Germany, where she completed her university studies with an MA in Japanese Studies. Her thesis on the Japanese folk craft movement sparked her interest in ceramics and her desire to become a potter. She studied ceramics at the Penland School of Craft with mentors McKenzie Smith, Will Ruggles, and Douglass Rankin.
Caroline has been an independent studio potter for more than 20 years. She lived and worked in Charleston as a part‑owner of cone10 studios, managing and curating its gallery. After ten years, she moved to Nashville, where she is an active member of the clay, school, and food communities. Over the past sixteen years, her work has included producing small‑batch artisan tableware for nationally acclaimed restaurants and establishing a clay curriculum for Abintra Montessori School (grades 1–8).
*Teapots that are purchased will remain on display in the gallery for the duration of the exhibition, through September 14, 2026.
After the show closes, teapots will be carefully packed and shipped by September 28, or they may be picked up at the gallery.
