About the Teapot
My work is fine functional ware made of English grolleg porcelain. This teapot incorporates animating decorative techniques of freehand slip trailed designs, a hand pulled and shaped handle, and a variety of layered specialty glazes including wood ash, micro-crystalline, strontium matte, and copper red, applied by pouring, brushing, and spraying. These glazes are melded together giving the pot a unique visually kinetic finish. The large flange on the underside of the lid also keeps it in place while serving.
This teapot is single-fired in a gas reduction kiln to near cone 11 (almost 2400 degrees F), making it very durable, oven safe, dishwasher safe, food safe, and microwavable. **(not suitable for stove top heating)

About the Artist
The natural wood ash glazes Geoff Lloyd uses to create his work ties his creative approach to the aesthetic roots of ceramics. Geoff goes further by merging elements of traditional ceramics and contemporary art using variations of form, color, texture, and technique in his continual evolutionary process.
Geoff attempts to allow each pot to unfold into its unique expression of personality. He hopes that the viewer will catch a glimpse of that character inside, and will appreciate using each piece as much as he cherishes the ability to create it.

*Teapots that are purchased will remain on display in the gallery for the duration of the exhibition, through September 14, 2026.
After the show closes, teapots will be carefully packed and shipped by September 28, or they may be picked up at the gallery.
