About the Teapot
A personal tea ceremony is a mindful, daily ritual that transforms tea preparation into a meditative practice, focusing on presence and self-care. It involves creating a serene space, selecting favorite tea tools, and intentionally savoring each step—from boiling water to the final sip—to reduce stress and enhance gratitude.
May this tea set hold space for what you need.
Blessings.
About the Artist
Nancy Kubale spent 25 years as a figurative ceramicist, living 50 miles southeast of Asheville, in the foothills of Rutherford County, NC. She earned her BFA in Mixed Media from Minneapolis College of Art and Design. In addition she studied ceramics at Penland School of Craft, and sculpture at Florence Academy of Art. She lives with her husband, who has retired from performing arts management, and her studio mate Bo, a blonde hound dog mix.
Her current life and work reflects an intention to slow down and cultivate connection to location, land and community.
With a commitment to let curiosity lead and guide – these small batch, handbuilt, vessels and pots incorporate wild clays, multiple firing temperatures (including wood fire), and a variety of terra sigillatas, oxides, and glazes.
Artist Statement
CONTEMPLATING TRUTH:
In a body of work there is a common thread of expression and exploration that binds it together. My current work contemplates our shared existence and individual essence. It is a pursuit of "truth"(trying to figure out what and how things really are) . I am intrigued by what we think, do and say, by who we are and how we live and the ideologies we embrace.
DEEPER TRUTH:
The body is the container that our consciousness comes in - and so I make the body. They are contemplative statements, re-imagined artifacts, ubiquitous and global thoughts, and universal principles. They are questions that are never fully answered in any final way; where do we come from?, why are we here?, how do we live?
Here's what I know so far:
People are important.
Love better.
