About the Artist
Marie Wright is a potter from Pittsboro, NC. Her pottery is rooted in the integration of art and science to create something beautiful.
The forms she chooses are mostly inspired by nature – especially what can be observed in the springtime. There is nothing more perfect than the curves on a newly formed leaf or petal – or the shapes and movement you see in a healthy young bird or creature.
Marie’s favorite type of pottery is making porcelain forms and finishing them with crystalline glazes. Crystalline glazes can be very challenging to work with – they require precise chemistry and firing processes. All the glazes that Marie uses are made in-house – this is where her background in chemistry comes in very handy!
In the end, what Marie looks to create is balanced, flowing forms with vibrant sunny glazes.

*Teapots that are purchased will remain on display in the gallery for the duration of the exhibition, through September 14, 2026.
After the show closes, teapots will be carefully packed and shipped by September 28, or they may be picked up at the gallery.
