Artist Statement
Growing up on a rural farm as the youngest of nine siblings, I had plenty of time to observe nature and daydream as a child. I draw inspiration from anything that catches my attention and enjoy challenging myself to find new ways of expressing my art. My work always has a story, a personal narrative relying on memory and personal experiences as my subject matter. Lately, I have begun drawing on my pieces, both sculptural and functional. I draw images intuitively and spontaneously to capture the directness and freshness of my stories. My drawings are loose and whimsical.
Through exploring different techniques and minimum glazing, I did my work with respect for the material and process to create delicate and imaginative pieces.

About Keok
I was born in Singapore and worked as a dentist for twenty years before moving to Atlanta in 2001 with my family. Always keen on the arts, I began making pottery and sculpture ten years ago at the Spruill Art Center in Dunwoody, Georgia, under the tutelage of Carol Brull while homeschooling my autistic son.

*Teapots that are sold must remain on display in the gallery as part of the exhibit until the show closes on September 10, 2020. After the show closes, teapots will be carefully packed and shipped by September 26 or available for pick-up at the gallery.
